Thank you for your interest in starting a new ISRRA working group.

Preamble
Our vision is a world where global collaboration brings major breakthroughs for people living with stroke.

To achieve this vision, a core activity is the development of collaborative working groups to advance science and practice. These working groups should have ambitious goals that could not be achieved without building the collaboration. Working group activities may lead to research projects, which if transformational may be identified as flagship projects for ISRRA, or work towards submission for a roundtable consensus building. They may also work to create a policy shift.

Working group structure
Each working group has (at least) a Lead and a co-Lead and holds regular working group calls with their members throughout the year. All leadership roles have limited terms, elected by agreement of working group members. Working groups are not permanent, with ISRRA favouring a ‘task and finish’ approach. This means that as long as working groups are progressing an idea, process, or science towards a clear objective, the group should remain active.

Current working groups (March 2023) are:
• Criteria for Neurorehabilitation Centres of Excellence
• Frailty
• Exercise and physical activity
• Stroke recovery economics
• Industry

Process for developing new working groups (and closing working groups)
New working groups can form from within the ISRRA membership. Proposed working groups must align with the strategic vision of ISRRA. The completed application form will be submitted to the Executive or Scientific Committee for review and feedback.

Once accepted, the new working group will commit to providing two detailed structured reports (via reporting document) a year. Research-based working groups will report to the Scientific Committee. Practice, Policy or Consumer-facing working groups will report to the Executive. Each Committee may request more regular updates if required.

Working groups are expected to contribute updates to newsletters and other communication channels, and contribute to ISRRA scientific meetings to advance their topic area.

There is no time limit set for how long a working group should stand. However, continuation of the working group is dependent on sufficient progress and will require the approval of the overseeing Executive or Scientific Committee at the time of the biannual report. Working Groups will also finish if they have achieved their goals and do not intend to set new goals.
